SOCHI – Russian President Vladimir Putin said he was the only one who has supported Ukrainian leader Petro Poroshenko’s idea to introduce an OSCE armed mission in southeastern Ukraine, unlike other leaders of the ‘Normandy format’ countries (Russia, Ukraine, Germany, France).

“President Poroshenko has put forward an initiative for the so-called police mission during the future likely elections in Donbas – in Donetsk and Luhansk. I am the only one who has backed him,” Putin said at a plenary meeting of the Valdai international discussion club on Oct. 27.

“I do not call it a police mission, because all other participants in the process object to this,” Putin also said.
