Moscow and Kyiv will jointly announce their decisions on prisoner exchange soon, Russian President Vladimir Putin said at a meeting with Ukrainian politician Viktor Medvedchuk on Sept. 5.

“Certainly, [you] successfully convert our good relations into specific humanitarian actions, specific deeds, and I believe people will remember that. This is a noble cause, as they say, no doubt about that,” Putin said addressing Medvedchuk.

In commenting on the Ukrainian prisoners Stanislav Klykh and Mykola Karpiuk mentioned by Medvedchuk among those who could be exchanged, Putin said Moscow has “a special attitude” toward these two men.

“This is a difficult issue for us. We will certainly keep moving in this direction and, just as we’ve agreed upon with the incumbent official administration in Ukraine, we will jointly announce the decisions we’ve made in the near future,” he said.
