You're reading: Rada Chairman Razumkov to visit Latvia next week

Next week, Verkhovna Rada Chairman Dmytro Razumkov is scheduled to visit Latvia, said Latvian Ambassador to Ukraine Juris Poikans.

“The Baltic countries, as you know, have always supported Ukraine, and of course we will continue our support. We are now following what is happening at the front, in Donbas. I expect that there will also be an official statement by our Ministry of Foreign Affairs. We also plan a visit by Speaker of the Parliament, Mr. Dmytro Razumkov next week. And it shows that we have very strong relations. Today there are a lot of challenges and, of course, we need to stick together when there are attempts to rewrite history,” he said at the presentation of the Public Diplomacy Rating for 2019 in Kyiv on Feb. 18.

Poikans emphasized the importance of the fact that Ukraine has been defending its sovereignty and independence from the aggression of the Russian Federation for the sixth year.

“And I absolutely agree with Marius [Janukonis, Lithuanian Ambassador to Ukraine] that your success is also our success. And now, when the war is ongoing for the sixth year, the most important thing is that Ukraine holds on, defends its independence, sovereignty,” he added.

According to the diplomat, this is his last year as Latvian Ambassador to Ukraine.
