The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine on April 19 will consider an appeal to Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew of Constantinople concerning the establishment of a united local Orthodox Church in Ukraine, head of the Petro Poroshenko Bloc faction, Artur Herasymov, has said.
“We hope that on April 19 in parliament we will support the appeal of the president of Ukraine to the Ecumenical Patriarch concerning the formation of a united local Orthodox church in Ukraine,” he told journalists in Kyiv after the meeting of Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko with the heads of parliamentary factions and the leadership of the Verkhovna Rada.
