You're reading: Rada to consider presidential bill on national security on March 14

The Committee of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine on National Security and Defense will consider the presidential bill on national security on March 14, its secretary, People’s Deputy Ivan Vinnyk (Petro Poroshenko Bloc faction) has said.

“The committee is going to consider this project at its meeting on March 14. I will report on it,” Vinnyk said on the sidelines of the Verkhovna Rada on March 13.

He also suggested that the Verkhovna Rada would consider this bill in the near future. However, according to the deputy, the document is rather narrow and it needs to be expanded.

“We have some comments that still need to be taken into account and expand the norms of the proposed national security bill,” Vinnyk said.

The MP stressed that the bill is extremely important, it creates the basis for Ukraine’s entry into NATO. “In our opinion, the risks of national security are not described,” the deputy said.

According to him, the bill also does not reflect the issues of economic security. “We will settle all these issues at the level of the committee. I think that the first reading will take place soon,” he said.
