You're reading: Rada deputy speaker urges Poroshenko to dismiss Lutsenko from post of Prosecutor General

Deputy Speaker of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Oksana Syroyid has called on President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko to dismiss Prosecutor General of Ukraine Yuriy Lutsenko, as he violated all principles of legal proceedings and humiliated a member of parliament.

“The president must immediately relieve Yuriy Lutsenko of his duties of the prosecutor general and appeal to the parliament with the motion on his resignation … It is necessary to immediately investigate the crime committed by the prosecutor general in the Ukrainian parliament. If this does not happen, you all, unfortunately, are doomed,” Syroyid said at the plenary session of the Verkhovna Rada on Dec.6.

According to her, Prosecutor General of Ukraine on Dec. 5, in the Verkhovna Rada “threatened the member of parliament of Ukraine and tried to humiliate him.”

She also said that Lutsenko “violated virtually all principles of legal proceedings.”

As reported, on Tuesday, Dec. 5, Lutsenko, reporting to the Verkhovna Rada about possible violations in which the leader of the New Forces Movement party, Mikheil Saakashvili, is suspected, offered the leader of the Samopomich faction Oleh Bereziuk to voluntarily surrender his deputy’s seat.

Prior to this, Bereziuk had criticized the actions of the authorities and representatives of law enforcement agencies against Saakashvili and spoke in support of Saakashvili.
