The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine has said it intends to increase the amount of one-time monetary assistance in the event of death, disability or partial disability to foreigners or stateless persons who are serving in the Ukrainian Armed Forces.

A total of 228 MPs voted on Dec. 5 at first reading for bill No. 6689 on the introduction of amendments to Article 21-4 of the law of Ukraine “On Military Duty and Military Service,” which concerns the improvement of individual issues of the payment of one-time monetary assistance in the event of death, disability or partial disability to foreigners or stateless citizens who serve in the Ukrainian Armed Forces.

In particular, the bill proposes to increase from 500 to 750 living wages, established by law for able-bodied people as of January 1 of the calendar year, the one-time monetary assistance that is assigned in the event of death of a serviceman during the performance of his duties, or due to an illness associated with the performance of his official duties.
