You're reading: Rada ratifies agreement with Hungary on 50 million euro loan for road construction

The Verkhovna Rada on March 23 ratified the framework agreement between the governments of Ukraine and Hungary on granting a loan on the terms of related aid for road construction.

According to the press service of the Infrastructure Ministry of Ukraine, the framework agreement defines the following conditions for the country’s borrowing a loan to finance the projects: the total amount of credit funds is up to 50 million euro, the term of crediting is 18.5 years, the deferment of payment on the loan and interest for use is 1.5 years, there is no interest for using the loan.

The purpose of the loan is financing investment projects for the development of the border road infrastructure on the Ukrainian-Hungarian state border and other projects agreed upon by the parties.

The priority projects to be financed under the agreement are the construction of a bypass road near Berehove and the village of Astei, the overhauls of the Petrove-Palad checkpoint road, the repairs of the M24 Mukacheve-Berehove road.
