The Ukrainian Verkhovna Rada will hold an extraordinary plenary session on Saturday, March 28, Yury Kamelchuk, a member of the pro-presidential Servant of the People parliamentary faction, said on March 25.
“Indeed, it has been confirmed tentatively that we will have a faction meeting on Friday, at which we will discuss what measures we are going to take and what bills we are going to support, and then we will meet for this extraordinary session on Saturday,” Kamelchuk said on the Ukraine 24 television channel on March 25.
A Verkhovna Rada conciliatory council does not have to meet to this end, as the parliament’s leadership may discuss the agenda with the faction leaders in a videoconference format so as not to endanger them, he said.
Apart from bills on countering the coronavirus epidemic, the participants in the upcoming extraordinary parliamentary session might also discuss bills enabling parliamentarians to work remotely, Kamelchuk said.
The bill on countering the coronavirus epidemic will include a number of social and economic regulations supporting the most vulnerable groups, Kamelchuk said. The parliamentarians might also consider some proposals aimed at supporting businesses during the nationwide quarantine period, he said.
