Radiation near reactor four of Chornobyl nuclear power plant (NPP) halved after covering it with a new safety shield, the press service of state-run enterprise Chornobyl NPP reported on Wednesday, referring to Technical Director of the Shelter facility Serhiy Kondratenko.

“One year is left until the completion of construction of the Shelter facility, covering with the safety shield has influenced the current situation with safety of the Shelter facility,” the press service said, citing Kondratenko.

As reported, late November 2016 reactor four of Chornobyl NPP was covered the new safety shield.
