Two protest rallies are in under way near Ukraine’s Verkhovna Rada building in central Kyiv on Dec. 6.

Nearly 100 people have blocked the traffic along Hrushevskoho Street near the parliament building with the demand to dismiss Interior Minister Arsen Avakov, an Interfax-Ukraine correspondent reports. The participants in the action are carrying posters with relevant slogans.

At this point, nearly 300 people are holding a protest action with the demand “to return [increased] pensions for Chornobyl [nuclear disaster-affected people]” on Constitution Square. They are also carrying the state flags with the slogan ‘Chornobyl firemen are calling for appropriate pension security.’

Furthermore, the participants in the action have unfolded a banner with the slogan ‘Interior Ministry’s pensioners for the state: pride yesterday, burden today.’
