You're reading: Rasmussen visits Ukrainian army positions in ATO zone, some Donbas towns

Former NATO Secretary General (2009-2014), Advisor to the President of Ukraine Anders Fogh Rasmussen visited Ukrainian military positions in the Anti-Terrorist Operation (ATO) zone, as well as some towns in Donetsk region affected by shellings by militants.

According to the press group of the ‘Donetsk’ operational and tactical group, together with a group of European politicians and journalists, he visited several towns in Donetsk region, where foreign guests saw the tasks and the state of Ukrainian troops involved in the ATO.

In one of the key camps of the ATO forces, representatives of the headquarters and the Joint Center for the Control and Coordination of the Ceasefire and Stabilization of the Disengagement Line, the delegates learnt about the situation in the hostilities zone and about violations of the Minsk agreements by the Russian-terrorist forces and illegal armed groups.

At a time when tens of thousands of Russian soldiers and separatists are on Ukrainian soil, Europe must continue to take a firm and unequivocal position of supporting Ukraine, Rasmussen said after the visit.
