Verkhovna Rada Chairman Dmytro Razumkov has met with several Estonian top officials during his working visit to the country.

In particular, he met with President of the Riigikogu [the Estonian parliament] Henn Polluaas, Defense Minister of Estonia Juri Luik and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Estonia Urmas Reinsalu, the press service of the Ukrainian parliament said on February 26.

During the meeting with Polluaas, Razumkov congratulated Estonia on the 102nd anniversary of independence and thanked for its support for Ukraine’s fight for territorial integrity and sovereignty, as well as for its support on the international stage.

The counterparts also discussed Ukraine’s anti-corruption reform, as well as reforms for bringing businesses out of the shadows and deregulation of economy.

“Also there are issues in which Estonia is significantly ahead of Ukraine and the whole world. These are, for example, digitalization and cybersecurity, in which you are holding the leading positions. Under conditions of a hybrid war, your experience in these spheres is especially important to our state,” Razumkov said.

Razumkov also discussed the plans and initiatives in the sphere of defense and security with Defense Minister Luik.

During the meeting with Foreign Minister Reinsalu, Razumkov said that Ukraine is ready to extend its cooperation with Estonia on the international stage.

“We can hear and feel the strong support of our Estonian partners. Of course, there are issues that need to be discussed. These are extension of opportunities on the international stage, the Eastern Partnership and the so-called Three Seas Initiative. The ministries and embassies are working on them, however, it is important to bring cooperation in these areas also to the inter-parliamentary level,” Razumkov said.

He also mentioned the digitalization of public administration among the priority areas for cooperation.

“A summit on the issue will take place in Ukraine in June. I hope that it will be held at the highest level and our Estonian colleagues would visit this event. You have managed to develop a really unique system and such experience is very important to Ukraine in today’s world,” Razumkov said.
