The national commission for financial service markets regulation has expressed hope that the electronic obligatory insurance of civil liability of vehicle owners (OSAGO) policies will start operating on January 1, 2018.

“We have high hopes that if we manage to stick to the schedule, we would have the provisions on the specifics of the signing of e-OSAGO policies and the reviewed provisions on the centralized database of the Motor Bureau [the Motor (Transport) Insurance Bureau of Ukraine – MTIBU] in effect by the New Year. I hope that the e-policy system will start operating on January 1,” a member of the commission Denys Yastreb told Interfax-Ukraine.

He said that today the commission has the provisions on the specifics of the signing of e-OSAGO policies approved by all interested public agencies.

Yastreb said that next step is to present the document a meeting of the commission and approve it and submit to the Justice Ministry for registration. In 15 days it will be registered and take effect in three months after the official publication.

However, the e-policy will be introduced finally after making amendments to the provisions on the centralized database of the MTIBU. The process is at a final stage.
