Residents of the occupied territories of Donetsk and Luhansk regions (ORDLO) spoke out against the participation of Ukrainian political parties in local elections.

According to a joint study by the Ukrainian Institute of the Future and the Dzerkalo Tyzhnia. Ukraine weekly, conducted with the assistance of New Image Marketing Group, 73.4 percent of respondents do not want to see Ukrainian political parties in local elections. Of these, 33.6 percent answered “probably not,” while 39.8 percent answered “definitely not.”

Some 22.7 percent of them are ready to admit Ukrainian political forces to the elections: 14.2 percent answered “rather yes,” and 8.5 percent answered “definitely yes.”

At the same time, 70.9 percent of ORLDO residents opposed the fact that only citizens of Ukraine can be candidates in local elections, as provided for by Ukrainian law.

The survey was conducted from Sept. 7 to Oct. 31, using the face-to-face method. In total, 1,606 respondents took part in the study: 800 Luhansk region residents and 806 Donetsk region residents. A margin of error does not exceed 3.2 percent.
