Ukraine and the North Atlantic Treaty Organization will begin discussions about a roadmap for Ukraine to join NATO, and Kyiv has pledged to implement reforms to bring the country up to NATO standards by 2020, President Petro Poroshenko said on July 10.

NATO has had a partnership with Ukraine for over 20 years. Ukraine is one of the biggest beneficiaries of NATO Trust Funds. The funds have paid for various projects including financial support for political and security sector reforms, help with cyber defence and medical rehabilitation for Ukrainian soldiers.
