SIMFEROPOL, Ukraine – A court in Russia-controlled Crimea has started to hear the appeal of a pro-Ukrainian activist against his five-year prison term.

Crimean resident and Kremlin political prisoner Volodymyr Balukh in court. In retaliation for his pro-Ukraine stance, Balukh was arrested in December 2017 for alleged storing of ammunition.
