Kremlin-backed forces from the beginning of Sept. 5 five times violated the ceasefire in the area of Joint Forces Operation (JFO), no casualties are reported, Ukraine’s Defense Ministry has reported.

“Today, the Russia-led occupation forces began with shelling and mortar shelling, deliberately violating the Minsk agreements. In total, the enemy mounted five targeted shelling of the positions of the Joint Forces on the contact line from the beginning of this day,” Defense Ministry Spokesman Dmytro Hutsuliak said at a briefing in Kyiv.

So, the use of heavy weapons by the Russian occupation forces was recorded today in the area of responsibility of the Operational Command North operational and tactical group.

“From 4:55 a.m. for 20 minutes, Russia-backed separatists fired at our defenders in the village of Zaitseve seven rounds of 122-mm artillery and five 120-mm mines,” Hutsuliak said.

In addition, from 5:15 the enemy shelled the positions of Ukrainian defenders near Yuzhne, using artillery and mortars.

In addition, the enemy mounted provocative shelling using small arms at 3 a.m. at the positions of the Ukrainian defenders near Talakivka, and in the morning in the area of Novohnativka and Vodiane.

“According to the available information, there have been no casualties as a result of enemy targeted attacks since the beginning of the day,” the Defense Ministry said.
