Russia-backed forces mounted seven attacks on Ukrainian army positions in Donbas, eastern Ukraine, in the past day.

“On January 30, the Russian-led forces violated the ceasefire seven times, including three instances when they used arms prohibited by the Minsk agreements. No casualties among the Joint Forces were reported following the criminal shelling by the Russia-led troops,” the press center of the Joint Forces Operation headquarters said in a morning update on Facebook on Jan. 31.

Ukrainian positions near the village of Pavlopil in the Skhid (East) sector came under fire opened from grenade launchers, while large-caliber machine guns and small-arms were used near the town of Maryinka and grenade launchers near the village of Novomykhailivka.

In the Pivnich (North) sector, the enemy used 82mm mortars near the village of Kriakivka, automatic grenade launchers and small arms, mortars near the village of Khutir Vilny, while Ukrainian positions near the town of Popasna and the village of Krymske came under 82mm mortar fire. The latter was also attacked by an MT-LBu armored carrier, as fire was opened from a ZU-23-2 towed 23mm anti-aircraft twin-barreled autocannon installed on it.

“The Ukrainian military’s professionalism suppressed the enemy’s mortar battery, the MT-LBu and the anti-aircraft autocannon were destroyed,” the JFO HQ said.

According to Ukrainian intelligence reports, two enemy troops were killed and another three were wounded on January 30.

“Since Jan. 31 morning, the enemy has not opened fire,” it said.
