Russia to respond to ECHR regarding circumstances of capturing Ukrainian seamen

The Russian Justice Ministry will reply to the European Court of Human Rights (ECHR) regarding the circumstances which led to the detention of Ukrainian naval seamen in the Kerch strait after receiving relevant information from Russian competent authorities, the ministry said.

“A reply to the ECHR request for information in relation to the consideration of a petition from Ukrainian authorities for the application of interim measures as per ECHR Rule 39 will be given by the Russian Justice Ministry within a reasonable time period after it receives relevant information from competent state organs of the Russian Federation,” the ministry said in response to a query from Interfax on Nov. 30.
