Although Turkey closed the Turkish Straits to military ships on Feb. 28, the fifth day of Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, Russia is still using civilian merchant vessels to supply logistics to its military campaigns in Ukraine and Syria, the Middle East Institute has said.  

It underlined that Russia is violating the spirit of the Montreux Convention, which Turkey triggered.
