MOSCOW – It may take the High Court in London no more than a few weeks to issue a final judgment on the procedure for calculation and the total amount of interest accrued on the Ukrainian $3 billion eurobond debt and the legal costs Ukraine must pay to Russia, the Russian Finance Ministry has said.

“The High Court in London has held hearings on a number of issues related to the court’s judgment of March 29, 2017, which ordered Ukraine to pay Russia $3 billion, the eurobond debt’s par value, and also the due amount of interest accrued. In particular, the subject to consideration by the court included the following: the procedure for calculation of and the amount of interest accrued, the amount of the legal costs due to be compensated by Ukraine,” the ministry said in a statement.

“The Russian Finance Ministry expects that the court will deliver a final judgment in the coming weeks,” the ministry said.

The Russian ministry went on to explain that the court had needed some additional time to study the positions of the sides and issue a judgment.

“This situation is quite typical for such cases,” it said.
