Russian-led forces mounted 10 attacks on Ukrainian positions in Donbas, eastern Ukraine, on Feb. 22; proscribed weapons were used in six attacks.

“No Joint Forces casualties were reported. The units under attack gave the enemy an adequate response, using available weapons that are not prohibited by the Minsk agreements … The situation in the Joint Forces Operation (JFO) zone remains under control,” the JFO’s press center said in an evening update on Feb. 22.

Russia-led forces fired twice from 120mm mortars and anti-tank grenade launchers to attack Ukrainian positions near the village of Vodiane, Novoazovsky district, Donetsk region. They also mounted two attacks, using 120mm mortars, an anti-tank missile system and automatic grenade launchers near the village of Lebedynske, Volnovakha district.

Ukrainian troops stationed near the town of Avdiyivka were shelled with the use of anti-tank grenade launchers. Other types of grenade launchers and small arms were used there. Ukrainian positions near the town of Maryinka were under sniper fire. The enemy also used grenade launchers of various systems to attack Ukrainian positions near the village of Luhanske, Bakhmut district, Donetsk region.

Russia-led forces twice opened fire from 120mm mortars and heavy-duty anti-tank grenade launchers to attack Ukrainian troops near the village of Novozvanivka, while 82mm mortars, heavy anti-tank grenade launchers and large-caliber machine guns were used near the village of Katerynivka, Popasna district, Luhansk region.
