Georgia’s ex-president Mikheil Saakashvili is determined to return to his home country, his wife Sandra Roelofs said at a meeting between Grigol Vashadze, the presidential candidate from the opposition political movement Strength in Unity, and voters in Zugdidi on October 20.

The couple are planning to celebrate their wedding anniversary on November 17 in Zugdidi, she told voters.

Roelofs said that many people often ask her where her husband is and when he’ll come back.

She expressed her hope that Saakashvili will be able to visit calmly and without problems.

Saakashvili has “big plans” and wants to go back to his home country and continue what he has not finished, she said.

In Georgia Saakashvili is a subject of several criminal investigations. Before he fled Ukraine the Georgian authorities had repeatedly asked Kyiv to extradite him. If Saakashvili returns to Georgia, he will be arrested immediately, the country’s officials stated repeatedly.
