Movement of New Forces leader, former head of the Odesa regional administration, and former Georgian President Mikheil Saakashvili has spoken to supporters who gathered near the Verkhovna Rada and has called on Kyivans to come to the parliament building for a “peaceful demonstration.”

“I call on Kyivans to come here, I call on Kyivans to hold a peaceful demonstration together and peacefully explain to this parliament that Ukraine’s legislative bodies have been seized by […] frauds and thieves,” Saakashvili said from a rostrum on Dec. 5.

The people surrounding Saakashvili are chanting “Kyiv, stand up!”

Saakashvili also said that he is outraged at the actions of authorities, particularly law enforcement agencies.

“I will leave this place together with the Ukrainian people only as a winner,” Saakashvili said. “Dear Kyivans, since you saved my life today, it now belongs to you,” he said.
