MINSK – Members of the Trilateral Contact Group (TCG), which mediates the conflict in eastern Ukraine, have agreed on the introduction of ceasefire from June 24 until the end of August, fur the duration of the harvesting campaign, Martin Sajdik, special representative for the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE), said at a briefing in Minsk on Wednesday.

The security subgroup proposed a so-called ‘harvest truce’ – a ceasefire for the harvesting period, starting from midnight, June 24, until August 31,” Sajdik said after the TCG meeting.

The initiative was backed by the TCG whose members promised to make it known to their political leaders, the OSCE representative said.

Earlier both Kyiv and the self-proclaimed Donetsk People’s Republic announced having reached agreement on the ‘harvest truce’.
