You're reading: Sajdik concerned about increasing number of children killed in Donbas

The Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE) observed sharp increases in the numbers of children killed in the Donbas conflict area in April-May, OSCE Special Envoy for the Trilateral Contact Group (TCG) Martin Sajdik told reporters in Minsk on May 30 following the TCG meeting.

The number of civilian casualties, including among children, has drastically increased over the past two months, he said. This is absolutely unacceptable, especially ahead of the school vacation, and civilian casualties must be prevented, he said.

OSCE Special Monitoring Mission (SMM) monitors have recorded over 100,000 ceasefire violations and 107 civilian deaths in Donbas since the beginning of 2018, the OSCE SMM’s head in Ukraine, Ertugrul Apakan, said earlier.
