Verkhovna Rada deputy from the Batkivschyna Party Nadia Savchenko has said she visited neutral territory near Stanytsia Luhanska (Luhansk region) to search for contacts with representatives of the self-proclaimed Luhansk People’s Republic in order to free hostages.

“I was in Stanytsia Luhanska on the bridge in the so-called ‘grey zone.’ I was not worried about my safety. I spoke with Ukrainians, who must live in the occupied territories,” Savchenko said on her Facebook page.

The MP also said that she was in the Anti-Terrorist Operations (ATO) zone during the three months following her release from a Russian prison. She added that does not go there now, so it’s too late for her to travel there now ‘because our politicians have let the dogs loose.”

“I am not beholden to anyone and am not obliged to answer for my actions, which I take as individual … as a politician. I am not looking for enemies, am acting not to betray Ukraine, but to free our comrades,” Savchenko said, emphasizing that sometimes “it is necessary to twice travel to hell and to the rear of the enemy.”

“People are afraid to travel to Russia. My sister was also afraid, but I received such a jolt of energy seeing her and Ukrainians in the courtroom. I was seized by a desire to continue living and fighting,” the MP said.

Savchenko also produced a video clip addressed to the leader of the self-proclaimed Donetsk People’s Republic Alexander Zakharchenko, who on Monday promised to revenge the murder of militant leader Motorola (Arsen Pavlov).

“I rarely want to speak in front of a camera, but today I watched Zakharchenko’s interview … To murder someone who committed murders is not a sin. But to say that you will knife innocent families, well, Alexander, think what you are saying. What kind of military officer would say something like that,” Savchenko said in the clip.

As earlier reported, on October 17 MP Savchenko said she was deposed by agents of Ukraine’s Security Service about her trip to occupied areas of Donbas.
