Ukrainian parliamentarian Nadiya Savchenko said she had a trilateral meeting in Minsk, which involved Russian representatives and the leaders of the self-proclaimed Donbas republics, Alexander Zakharchenko and Igor Plotnitsky.
“As regards the meeting in Minsk. Yes, a meeting did take place in the Minsk format, a trilateral one, with Russian presence and in the presence of Zakharchenko and Plotnitsky from the DPR [Donetsk People’s Republic] and the LPR [Luhansk People’s Republic]. The meeting aimed to strengthen the Minsk format and make it more efficient in the very near future,” she told reporters in Kyiv on Dec. 12 evening.
She noted that as Rada deputy she cooperates with Ukraine’s Security Service (SBU), Interior Ministry and presidential administration. “I cooperate with the SBU legally, as a people’s deputy. Petro Oleksiyovych Poroshenko is not an enemy of Ukraine: he, like all of us, wants to reclaim our guys from captivity and our political detainees from Russia. I am certain the president, at his level, is doing all he can for this to happen as quickly as possible,” she said.
She said she travelled to Minsk with an ordinary citizen’s passport, not a diplomatic one.
“There will be results. [The meeting] was efficient,” Savchenko said, when asked by journalists whether her Minsk meeting was productive. She also added that she is ready to hold such meetings as often as will be necessary.
