The State Bureau of Investigations (SBI) has started a pretrial investigation into criminal proceedings on the receipt of unlawful benefits and large amounts of money by director of the National Anti-Corruption Bureau of Ukraine (NABU) Artem Sytnyk from the former MP, head of Energomerezha Dmytro Kriuchkov and other unidentified persons.

Press secretary of the Prosecutor General of Ukraine Larysa Sarhan said on Facebook that the actions of Sytnyk are classified under Part 4 of Article 368 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (accepting a bribe on a large scale or by an official at a particularly responsible position).

According to her, the NABU director received an unlawful benefit “using the provided authority or official position in the interests of the one who provides unlawful benefit or in the interests of the third party.”

She said the SBI is also carrying out a pretrial investigation into the criminal proceedings dated April 16 on the fact that Kriuchkov and other unidentified persons provided unlawful benefits to Sytnyk “for committing or not doing any action in the interests of the person who provides such benefits, or in the interests of the third party using the provided authority or official position” under Part 4 of Article 369 of the Criminal Code.

“The procedural management in the criminal proceedings is carried out by the Prosecutor General’s Office of Ukraine. Currently, priority investigative and procedural actions are being carried out,” Sarhan said.
