The State Bureau of Investigations (SBI) has launched an investigation into the seizure of state power by the fifth president of Ukraine, Petro Poroshenko, and the failure to execute the court decision when appointing members of the High Council of Justice, the former deputy head of the presidential administration during the presidency of Viktor Yanukovych, Andriy Portnov, has said.

In his blog on the Telegram social network, he posted a scanned copy of the official response of the SBI dated May 28 reading “We inform you that following consideration of your appeal to the unified register of pretrial investigations on May 28, 2019, statements Nos. 62019000000000753, 62019000000000754 on criminal offenses under Part 3 of Article 109, Part 3 of Article 382 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine were included in it.”

“Let me remind you that Poroshenko, violating a direct injunction, in violation of the requirements of the law, by his own decree canceled the conditions of the tender and, acting deliberately by prior arrangement with an organized group of people, in order to maintain control over the judicial system, after the defeat at the elections illegally appointed two members the high body of the justice system,” Portnov said, adding that Article 109 of the Criminal Code does not provide for any other pretrial restriction than detention.
