The Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) is investigating the results of the audit of Naftogaz, which was carried out by the State Audit Service, and upon completion will publish its results, Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal has said.

“The results [of the audit] are negative. We have already seen some of them in the media, but incorrect materials were presented there. As a result of the audit, the SBU is currently conducting an investigation, the results will be made public,” Shmyhal said on the Hard with Vlashchenko program on the Ukraine 24 TV channel on Tuesday night.

He said that the boards, managers and, in particular, supervisory boards will bear responsibility for negative results in the financial statements of state-owned companies. “All this is spelled out in their statutes. And all people who may be conditionally guilty of some kind of violation are easy to identify and point out their responsibility. And they cannot say: “We received a call from the Cabinet, this is a politically necessary decision.” These enterprises are independent entities of economic activity,” Shmyhal said.

Earlier, the Economichna Pravda e-zine reported that the State Audit Service sent the materials of the audit of NJSC Naftogaz Ukrainy to the Main Directorate of Counterintelligence of the SBU.

The audit act, which was sent by the SBU, refers to “large-scale violations, ineffective management decisions and risky operations that have led or may lead to losses of financial and material resources for Hr 176.190 billion, including financial violations that led to losses of Hr 75.486 billion.”

Naftogaz Executive Board Chairman Andriy Kobolev said that criminal proceedings were initiated in relation to the activities of the management of NJSC Naftogaz Ukrainy.
