Ukraine’s SBU Security Service has denied information appearing in Russia-controlled social media about SBU chief Vasyl Hrytsak’s plans to step down.

“The SBU denies the information that is actively being disseminated, including information resources controlled by the Russian Federation, about Hrytsak’s dismissal from his post,” the SBU said on Tuesday.

Hrytsak said the information fakes are aimed at destabilizing the socio-political situation in Ukraine during the electoral process.

“If I make such a decision, the SBU’s official website will be the first to report this. I understand my Russian counterparts’ impatience. Over the past four years, the SBU has learned how to professionally defeat Russia’s special services, delivering painful blows. We will continue doing so, despite Russian fakes and rumors,” the SBU press service said, citing Hrytsak.
