You're reading: SBU detains agent of Russian special services in Kyiv

A security agent of the Russian Federation, who was trying to obtain secret documentation in the military sphere and recruit a representative of the Ukrainian Defense Ministry, has been detained by the Security Service of Ukraine in Kyiv.

“A native-born and a resident of Donetsk, visiting Kyiv from time to time, on instructions from Russian special services, intended to obtain information about personnel, provision, deployment, armament and movement along the disengagement line of military units and formations of the Armed Forces and the National Guard of Ukraine,” the press centre of the SBU said on Facebook on July 14.

He also showed interest in the supply of military weapons and equipment to Ukraine by NATO member countries, the conduct of the U.S.-Ukrainian military drills Sea Breeze 2017, along with the information about officers who are U.S. Armed Forces instructors training Ukrainian servicemen.
