“The SBU exposed a foreign citizen who is put on the international wanted list through Interpol. The lawbreaker was detained in Cherkasy during a special operation that took place as part of countering international terrorism,” the SBU’s website said on June 22.

Special service operatives have established that the foreigner has been hiding on the territory of Ukraine since 2019. He tried to avoid criminal liability for crimes committed on the territory of another state.

“A temporary arrest for 40 days was applied to the detainee and he was placed in the state institution Cherkasy Investigative Ward until a request for his extradition is received from the competent authorities of the state – the initiator of the search,” it says.
