Ukraine’s SBU State Security Service has said during 2018 its counter-intelligence department unmasked 71 persons involved in subversive activities involving foreign intelligence agencies in Ukraine.
“These 71 individuals were involved in the subversive activities of foreign intelligence agencies. They were identified by the SBU’s counter-intelligence unit, which initiated 114 criminal cases under Article 111 of Ukraine’s Criminal Code (state treason),” the SBU said on Facebook on January 8.
As earlier reported, at the end of December 2018 the SBU’s counterintelligence unit said over the year 46 Ukrainian citizens were involved in 165 criminal cases under Article 111, and that 10 foreigners were involved in espionage cases.
