You're reading: SBU liquidates network of agitators acting on instructions of Russian special services

Employees of the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) have exposed a network of Internet agitators in several regions of the country who, by order of the Russian special services, spread calls for the violent overthrow of the constitutional order in Ukraine, as well as for the state border change, the SBU press service reported on August 11.

“On the instructions of ‘curators,’ the offenders called for aggressive war and changing the state border of Ukraine. To carry out information and subversive activities, the enemy agents used information from Russian propaganda Internet publications and the websites of illegal armed formations in Donbas” the report said.

It notes that in the course of investigative actions at locations of the offenders in different regions of Ukraine, law enforcement officers found computer equipment and means of communication with evidence of illegal activity.

It is clarified that in Chernihiv, an agitator was sentenced to three years in prison. He used the Internet to call for a change in the borders of Ukraine. To distribute provocative materials, he created and administered specialized groups on social networks.

The security service emphasizes that the court found the attacker guilty under Part 1 of Article 110 (encroachment on the territorial integrity and inviolability of Ukraine) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. The verdict has already entered into force.

“In Mariupol, the activities of three members of the enemy Internet agents’ network were blocked. The offenders popularized militants of illegal armed formations and campaigned for changing the state border. They posted their ‘publications’ on social networks banned in Ukraine,” the SBU said.

It is noted that law enforcement officers informed the offenders about the suspicion under Part 1 of Article 110 (encroachment on the territorial integrity and inviolability of Ukraine), and Part 1 of Article 436 (propaganda of war) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.

In addition, in the Zaporizhia region, a resident of Berdiansk was exposed, who posted information on personal pages of one of the social networks calling for the overthrow of the constitutional order.

“According to the established facts, urgent investigative and operational actions are ongoing to bring to justice those involved in information and subversive activities against Ukraine’s state security,” the SBU said.
