Counterintelligence officers of the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) prevented the illegal transfer of dual-use technological equipment to one of the countries of Central America, the SBU press center reports.

“According to preliminary information from the investigation, the fraud was organized by representatives of a local commercial structure specializing in the design and manufacture of ship and industrial ventilation systems. They tried to smuggle state-controlled goods to one of the Central American countries. To implement the scheme, the dealers entered inaccurate information in the accompanying documentation about the origin of the cargo and the scope of its further use,” the message says.

So, under the guise of civilian products, foreign customers planned to receive units for military ships.

Dual-use products were detained at the customs post. The equipment has been sent for examination.

In the framework of criminal proceedings under Article 333 (violation of the procedure for international transfers of goods subject to state export control) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine, investigative and operational actions are continued to establish all the circumstances of the offense. The issue of notifying the organizers and participants of illegal activities about the suspicion is being resolved.
