The Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) has received information about Russia’s intentions to use a RIA Novosti journalist, Ukrainian citizen Iryna Vysokovych, to prepare tendentious materials to discredit the Ukrainian state, SBU spokeswoman Olena Hitlianska has told Interfax-Ukraine.

“Upon arrival in Kherson and a conflict provoked by her during the trial of propagandist [Kirill] Vyshynsky she was formally invited to the administrative building of the SBU, with her prior consent. She told the staff of the service about an ‘order’ received from Russian curators to prepare anti-Ukrainian materials. She said she had received $1,500 for that and admitted that she did not officially work for RIA Novosti,” she said in a comment on June 4.

According to Hitlianska, the SBU informed this citizen about the unacceptability of actions to the detriment of the state security of Ukraine and issued a warning to her.

“The measure was taken exclusively within the framework of the current legislation of Ukraine and with respect for legitimate human rights and freedoms,” she said.
