The liquidation of head of the so-called Donetsk People’s Republic (DPR) Oleksander Zakharchenko was beneficial to the Russian Federation, the Security Service of Ukraine said.

“The extermination of Zakharchenko was beneficial primarily to the Russian side in order to continue monitoring the temporarily occupied territories,” said deputy head of the Security Service of Ukraine Viktor Kononenko at a briefing in Kyiv on Wednesday, commenting on the video with the undermining of Zakharchenko.

At the same time, he added: “We are not engaged in the commission of terrorist acts.”

According to Kononenko, he also cannot comment on the video as such, since he is not a specialist in this matter.

According to the Russian media, Zakharchenko was killed on August 31 as a result of an explosion in the Donetsk cafe “Separ.”
