BERLIN – The Scythian gold collection from Crimean museums, currently on loan to the Allard Pierson Museum in Amsterdam, will remain in the Netherlands for now, as the recent judgment by the Amsterdam Court of Appeal might be appealed with the Supreme Court of the Netherlands, Yasha Lange, press secretary of the University of Amsterdam, said on Oct. 27.

“A possible appeal to the Supreme Court against the decision of the Court of Appeal is still pending, hence the items will remain safely stored in the Netherlands until a final ruling has been reached,” Lange said.

The Amsterdam Court of Appeal resolved on Oct. 26 that the Allard Pierson Museum in Amsterdam should return the artifacts not to the Crimean authorities but to Ukraine. The Allard Pierson Museum organizationally belongs to the University of Amsterdam.
