Nataliya Kaplan, a cousin of the political prisoner Oleh Sentsov who serves a 20-year term in Russia, has thanked the European Parliament in the name of her cousin Oleh at a plenary session on December 10, Rebecca Harms, a member of the European Parliament, wrote on Twitter.

“He doesn‘t want to be a hero. He wants freedom. He wants to make films,” Kaplan said.

Harms also said that while awarding the Sakharov Prize 2018 the European Parliament promises to increase its efforts to free Sentsov.
