Russia-backed separatists continued systematic bombardments from large-caliber mortars on the positions of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, the press center of the Ukrainian Military Headquarters has said.

“In general, Russia-backed separatists mounted 14 attacks on Ukrainian army positions in Donbas in the past 24 hours, with no Ukrainian soldiers reported as killed or wounded in action,” the Ukrainian Army’s press centre said on Facebook on February 14 morning.

According to the Military staff the Svitlodarska Duha bulge became the epicenter of fire. “Here, Russia-backed separatists used 122mm artillery systems, 120mm and 82mm mortars, anti-aircraft guns, grenade launchers, heavy machine guns and small arms against the Ukrainian positions near the village of Troyitske,” the report reads.

As noted, the shelling near this settlement lasted for over five hours and about 150 shells and mines were lobbed by the separatists.

In addition, separatists were also active near the village of Luhanske, where the Russian-backed forces launched over sixty 120mm and 82mm shells. At the same time, separatists accompanied these shelling by using grenade launchers of various types and heavy machine guns.

Russia-backed separatists fired 82mm mortars near the village of Novozvanivka and the town of Popasna. Moreover, small arms and grenade launchers were used by separatist units near the villages of Mayorsk, Zaitseve and Stanytsia Luhanska.
