You're reading: Servant of the People takes leading position in 16 Ukrainian regions

The Servant of the People political party in local elections took 1-3 places in 16 regions of Ukraine, according to the monitoring data of the elections of the Sociological Group Rating.

Aggregate support of the five parliamentary parties in the current elections was 51% (in elections to the Verkhovna Rada of 2019, they received 78%). However, in areas where powerful local parties were represented, parliamentary parties received much more support in local elections.

The analysis shows Servant of the People party took leading positions (1-3 places) in Dnipropetrovsk, Zhytomyr, Zakarpattia, Kyiv, Kirovohrad, Mykolaiv, Odesa, Poltava, Rivne, Sumy, Kherson, Khmelnytsky, Cherkasy, Chernivtsi and Chernihiv regions.

Opposition Platform – For Life achieved high results in the regions of the south and east, as well as in Sumy region. European Solidarity fared well in western Ukraine, including in Zhytomyr, Kyiv, Rivne and Chernivtsi regions.

The For the Future (Maybutnie) Party secured leadership positions in Volyn, Ivano-Frankivsk, Ternopil, Khmelnytsky, Cherkasy and Poltava regions, and Batkivschyna received high results in Kirovohrad, Ivano-Frankivsk, Zakarpattia, Poltava and Chernivtsi regions.

The Our Land (Nash Krai) Party did well in Luhansk, Zhytomyr, Chernihiv and Mykolaiv regions, while Svoboda fared well in Ivano-Frankivsk and Ternopil. Oleh Liashko’s Radical Party did well in Chernihiv region, while UDAR did well in Kyiv.

Voter turnout in the western regions was higher than in the southeastern regions. For example, if in Ternopil and Lviv regions the voter turnout on Oct. 25 was about 44%, while in southeastern regions, only about a third came to the polls.

It is noted that according to the aggregate rating of parties in local elections, the conditional 5% barrier was overcome by Servant of the People (14.5%), European Solidarity (13.7%), Opposition Platform – For Life (12.5% ), For the Future (8.6%) and Batkivschyna (8.5%). The percentages are calculated from the total number of votes of voters who supported the party.
