Dmytro Shymkiv announced his resignation from the presidential administration of Ukraine on Aug. 31.  He had served since 2014 as the administration’s deputy head.

President Poroshenko formally appointed Serhiy Marchenko to take over the position.

In a Facebook post, Shymkiv wrote that he had achieved what he set out to do in the position, including initiating key reforms, launching 3G and 4G in Ukraine, setting up the National Reform Council and the National Investment Council.

“I have always positioned myself as a technocrat, and repeatedly refused to pursue a political career in other positions. My goal was to transform the country, manage change, promote the reform process, build processes and teams, launch initiatives and promote the image of Ukraine in the world,” he wrote. “Having completing the tasks, I decided to return to my element – business!”
