Bratislava supports the extension of sanctions against Russia until the Minsk agreements are implemented and Ukraine gains control over its territory within internationally recognized borders, Slovakian President Zuzana Čaputová has said.

“Each resolution of the conflict should be based on the principles of international law, and should take into account sovereignty and internationally recognized borders. This applies to Donbas and Crimea, and Sevastopol. Therefore, Slovakia, according to the position of the European Union, supports the extension of sanctions against Russia until the Minsk agreements are implemented and Ukraine’s control over its territory is regained,” she said at a joint press conference with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky in Kyiv on Monday.
