The contender for the post of governor of the National Bank of Ukraine (NBU), Yakiv Smoliy, does not plan any significant changes among the members of the bank board if the parliament approves his candidature for the post.
“No significant changes are foreseen. We will have one vacancy for the deputy, who is in charge of the payment and monetary division. The candidature will be selected on a competitive basis,” he told reporters after attending a meeting of the parliamentary committee on financial policy and banking in Kyiv.
As reported, on Jan.18 this year President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko submitted to the parliament draft decrees on the dismissal of Valeriya Gontareva from the post of NBU governor and the appointment of Yakiv Smoliy to this post.
The Verkhovna Rada Committee on Financial Policy and Banking, following the meeting on Feb.5, recommended that the parliament approve the decree to dismiss Gontareva and appoint Smoliy to this post.
