You're reading: Statistics: Construction work in Ukraine grows by 2.7 percent in May

The volume of construction work in Ukraine in May 2018 increased by 2.7 percent compared to May 2017, while the decrease in April 2018 from April 2017 was 7.4 percent.

According to the State Statistics Service, the data are given without taking into account the temporarily occupied territory of Crimea and Sevastopol and certain areas of Donetsk and Luhansk regions.

According to the authority, the volume of construction work in May 2018 grew by 20.5 percent compared with the previous month, while in April 2018 it fell by 7.7 percent compared with March 2018.

According to the report, in May 2018 year-over-year, the growth in the volume of construction was observed in all spheres. A rise in residential construction was 13.3 percent, while the figure in construction of nonresidential buildings grew by 16.1 percent. The increase of 27.2 percent was recorded in construction of engineering facilities.

In May 2018, the volume of construction of residential buildings and engineering facilities grew by 8% in each sphere compared with April 2018, and it fell by 11.2 percent in construction of nonresidential buildings.

In January-May 2018, construction work fell in 15 regions, in particular in Luhansk region by 61.5 percent, to Hr 90.4 million, Sumy region by 28.5 percent, to Hr 298.9 million and Kirovohrad region by 21.9 percent, to Hr 340.6 million.

The largest growth in the volume of construction works in January-May 2018 was seen in Rivne region by 24.2 percent, to Hr 623.9 million and Chernivtsi region by 52.4 percent, to Hr 533.4 million.

In Kyiv city the volume of construction work did not change year-over-year, being Hr 8.9 billion.
