Ukrainian Information Policy Minister Yuriy Stets has said he hopes that Ukrainian journalist Roman Sushchenko, like dozens of other Ukrainian political prisoners in Russia, will soon testify against perpetrators at the international tribunal in The Hague.

“The Russian criminal authorities with their puppet ‘courts’ once again demonstrate the upper level of cynicism and disregard for human values. Obviously, they absolutely do not care about the opinion of the entire civilized world,” the press service of the Information Policy Ministry quoted Stets as saying after Sushchenko’s sentence.

According to the minister, the persecution of dissenters and substitution of concepts have become a common occurrence for the Russian authorities.

Stets expressed hope that “Roman Sushchenko, like dozens of other political prisoners of the Kremlin,” would soon testify against the Russian authorities at the international tribunal.

On June 4, the Moscow City Court sentenced Sushchenko to 12 years in a high-security penal colony for espionage.
