The termination of Ukrainian citizenship of ex-president of Georgia, former head of Odesa regional state administration Mikheil Saakashvili is due to false information provided by him when registering citizenship, the presidential administration of Ukraine said.

“Upon submission of the State Migration Service, which provided convincing facts about filing inaccurate information when filing the application, the Citizenship Commission under the President of Ukraine decided to support the motion for stripping Mikheil Saakashvili of Ukrainian citizenship and recommended the president take an appropriate decision,” the press service’s response says on the relevant request of the Interfax-Ukraine news agency.

According to the information, the president signed an appropriate decree on the basis of these recommendations.

“In accordance with the legislation on the protection of personal data, this normative act is not subject to publication, since it contains confidential information, in particular personal data,” the presidential administration said.
